Overwinter 2018-19 wintering loses, although variable, appear to be high again, the 3rd consecutive year. See for example Feb 18 NPR report “Massive Loss..” featuring Eric Olsen, Richard Adee and Ramesh Sagili. Hopefully when our winter weather breaks and better spring weather bursts forward you can begin spring managements and will find good survivorship. Here at PNWhoneybeesurvey we ask, whatever you find, to please share with fellow beekeepers via our online survey which will be open from March 15 continuing during month of April. It should only take a few minutes to share, especially if you have been taking notes. Reports will be posted on the same site – you can review 2017-18 loss/management reports for 304 Oregon backyard survey respondents, 104 Washington small scale beekeepers and for individual OR and WA Bee clubs. Thank you for your participation over the years and I look forward to seeing you at your local bee club meetings this spring!
